Changes to Vernon Winter Carnival Parade Route, Some Impact on Transit Routes

This Saturday marks the beginning of Vernon’s Winter Carnival, which will feature a parade with a few minor changes to the route. The parade will still be held at noon on 43rd Avenue and travel south on 27th Street, turn briefly onto 30th Avenue, and then move north along 29th Street past the train station, west on 32nd Avenue past Civic Plaza and the museum, before finally ending at 39th Avenue.

The staging areas for the parade have remained the same as in years prior; closed off to all traffic between 8am to 2pm while the parade is happening from 10am-2pm. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes if needed or try using 32nd Street for travelling downtown as an alternative as it helps minimize disruption to transit service.

Affected transit routes include 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 60 and BC Transit has issued updates on their website regarding any alternative options for those who take public transportation. Staging areas for those taking part in the parade are found at 27th Street between 39th and 43rd avenues as well as any nearby side streets.
