Search for Missing Senior with Dementia

The Penticton RCMP is looking for help from the locals to track down a missing senior. Doreen Abbott was last seen on Friday evening when she failed to reach a friend’s house and her current location is unknown.

It has been reported that Abbott has onset dementia but usually follows a set routine, thus making her absence concerning. The vehicle she is driving is a 1993 green Subaru Legacy with the license plate number MXH063.

Dementia is a group of neurological disorders characterized by the decline in cognitive functions, including memory, reasoning and communication. The different types of dementia can have many causes, such as Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, head trauma or Huntington’s disease. Symptoms of dementia vary depending on the type, but may include problems with memory and language, difficulty performing daily activities or impaired judgment
