Impaired Driving Suspected in Westsyde Head-On Collision

A head-on collision occurred on Sunday in Westsyde, with police suspecting impaired driving as the cause of the accident. The incident resulted in serious injuries to one driver and charges are anticipated following an ongoing Criminal Code impaired driving investigation.

Mounties reported that emergency crews were dispatched to a stretch of Westsyde Road near Parkview Drive just after 1 p.m. following a collision between a Honda Civic and a Ford Ranger pickup truck. The driver of the Honda was arrested for impaired driving while his passenger was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, which are believed to be non-life-threatening.

As a result of the crash, traffic in the area was impacted for several hours. RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn stated that charge recommendations are expected as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter. The suspect has been released with a court date and driving prohibition.
