Public Invited to Have Say on Policing and Community Safety

The Vernon and District branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA Vernon) is launching a community-led public engagement process to gather feedback on policing and community safety in British Columbia. The initiative, called the Policing and Public Safety Modernization, aims to collect community members’ opinions and experiences to help shape policy and new legislation, particularly regarding mental health.

CMHA Vernon is inviting residents of the Okanagan and Similkameen area to participate in this important conversation. It’s an opportunity for young people like you to have a say in how our communities are policed and how public safety is maintained. Your feedback is valued and will contribute to the development of policies that reflect the needs and concerns of our region.

The B.C. government initiated this project in response to the Transforming Policing and Community Safety in B.C. Report, which highlighted the importance of community-informed services. This is your chance to make a difference and help create positive change in the way our police forces operate.

To participate in the feedback process, visit CMHA Vernon’s website and look for the Policing and Public Safety Modernization initiative. There, you will find information on how to share your opinions, experiences, and suggestions. Your voice matters, and together, we can work towards a safer and more inclusive community.

Join us in shaping the future of policing and community safety. Let’s make our voices heard and create meaningful impact. Together, we can build a better Okanagan and Similkameen area.
