Pickleball in Penticton: A Popular Sport with a Renewed Lease for Local Club

The Peach City Indoor Pickleball Club in Penticton is excited to announce that they have secured a renewed lease for their facility on Ellis Street, ensuring they can continue to serve the community for at least three more years. This news comes after the City of Penticton approved the lease renewal on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

With two pickleball courts, the facility has become a popular hub for both indoor pickleball players and the city’s Emergency Support Services (ESS). The Peach City Indoor Pickleball Club will operate the building at a monthly rate of $3,598 plus GST, with the option to renew the lease for an additional two years.

Pickleball, known as North America’s fastest-growing sport, has seen a surge in popularity in Penticton over the last few years. In fact, the president of the Penticton Pickleball Club stated in July 2023 that the city needs more courts to meet the high demand for the sport locally.

The Peach City Indoor Pickleball Club, funded by player fees and sponsorships, has invested over $29,000 in improvements to the facility since taking over operations. These improvements include floor preparation, court fencing, nets and posts, site preparation, and the purchase of furniture and equipment.

Under the renewed lease agreement, the city will continue to maintain responsibility for major building systems, security, and the surrounding grounds. The Pickleball Club has also committed to working around the needs of the ESS, offering immediate full access to the building in case of emergency.

Pickleball enthusiasts in Penticton can now look forward to three more years of enjoying their favorite sport at the Peach City Indoor Pickleball Club. With this renewed lease, the club remains committed to providing a vibrant and inclusive space for pickleball players of all levels.
