A disturbing incident occurred last week at the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) where a healthcare worker became the victim of an assault by a patient. The incident took place early on Friday morning, around 4:45 am, as reported by the police.
The affected staff member sustained minor injuries from the assault. Fortunately, after receiving appropriate care, the worker is now recuperating at home. Interior Health, commenting on the matter, praised the team’s response to the situation and reiterated their commitment to the safety and well-being of their staff.
Authorities have shed light on the suspected assailant’s condition, revealing that the individual was undergoing a crisis during the time of the incident. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have wrapped up their investigation and handed over their findings to the BC Prosecution Service for further action.
