One exciting development is the acquisition of a 4.2 km section of the former Grey Canal irrigation flume from Coldstream Ranch. This land will be transformed into a recreational trail, offering stunning views and a unique outdoor experience. While it is not yet open to the public, the Regional District of North Okanagan has big plans for this new trail.
Additionally, two key trail projects have recently been completed. One of these projects is a 900-metre connection for the Grey Canal Trail between the Turtle Mountain and Bella Vista/Okanagan Hills sections. This new connection will make it easier for hikers and bikers to navigate the trail system and explore different areas of Greater Vernon.
These new trail connections are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the outdoor recreation opportunities in the area. Greater Vernon is already known for its extensive network of trails, and these additions only solidify its status as the Trails Capital of B.C. Whether you’re an avid hiker, mountain biker, or simply enjoy being in nature, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Greater Vernon.
So, grab your hiking boots, dust off your bike, and get ready to explore the incredible trails that make Greater Vernon the ultimate destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Stay tuned for updates on when these new trail connections will be open to the public, and in the meantime, start planning your next adventure in the Trails Capital of B.C.!
