Explosives Discovered During Traffic Stop

In a shocking incident on Monday night, a traffic stop in Spallumcheen led to the discovery of multiple improvised explosive devices inside a vehicle. The incident took place at around 11:45 p.m. when a vigilant officer from the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP stopped a suspicious vehicle on Reservoir Road. This vehicle had earlier evaded police in Vernon. Thankfully, the driver was apprehended without any trouble. However, during a search of the vehicle, the officer stumbled upon items resembling hand grenades.

To ensure the safety of the public, the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit was called in and the area was sealed off. The vehicle was left untouched until the unit arrived on Tuesday at around 12 p.m. After safely dealing with the items, it was confirmed that they were indeed explosive materials.

The driver of the vehicle has been released, but the police investigation is still ongoing. The authorities are working hard to determine the intentions behind carrying these dangerous devices.

Incidents like these remind us of the importance of being vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities. It is crucial to prioritize the safety of our community and work together to keep our neighborhoods secure.

We will continue to update you with more information as the investigation progresses. Stay tuned for the latest updates on OKDAILY. Stay safe, stay informed!
