During a recent traffic stop in the North Okanagan, explosive devices resembling hand grenades were discovered in a vehicle. The incident occurred on January 22 around 11:45 p.m. when a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP officer pulled over a suspicious vehicle on Reservoir Road in Spallumcheen.
According to Constable Chris Terleski, the vehicle had failed to stop for police earlier in the evening in Vernon. The driver was taken into custody without incident, and during an initial search of the vehicle, the officer noticed several items that looked like hand grenades.
To ensure safety, the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) was consulted, and the area was cordoned off. The vehicle was left in place until the EDU could attend.
This alarming discovery highlights the importance of law enforcement in uncovering potential threats to public safety. The incident serves as a reminder to always stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
